Albuquerque, NM – August 10, 2020 — Access Innovations, Inc., provider of Data Harmony software solutions, is proud to announce working with Zarin’s Jury Verdict Review Publications, Inc. (JVRP), producer of the website www.jvra.com. In order to facilitate a content management strategy for JVRP, Access Innovations developed a controlled vocabulary tailored to civil suits and structured their content with a revised XML schema for more robust storage and retrieval.

The taxonomy project consisted of three phases. Phase One involved the construction of a taxonomy in order to classify JVRP civil suits and to facilitate auto-tagging of their content. This phase involved content and data analysis, text analytics, and term discovery as the formation backbone of the thesaurus. Phase Two restructured JVRP content in a new XML format that closely resembles JATS XML markup. Plaintiffs, defendants, judges, attorneys, and expert witnesses were structured as contributor groups. The final phase of the project included a proof of concept to deliver samples based on a filter of legal practice areas which involve facets of antitrust law to Tech and Telecom industries to Labor and Employment.

“When we needed to get a taxonomy built for improving search and distribution options and realized there was not already an existing vocabulary that we could just license,” said Gary Zarin, Partner at JVRP. “We went to Access Innovations to create one for our specific content and it was delivered as we needed and on time.  The implementation was straightforward and the team was informative and fun to work with.”

“It was challenging, yet enlightening, to develop a controlled vocabulary for unorthodox context,” Jack Bruce, lead taxonomy developer at Access Innovations commented. “Normally, we reside in developing taxonomies for scholarly publications, but the classification of jury verdicts proved to be an exciting experience.”

“We have worked with Access Innovations on several taxonomy projects and so we knew they would quickly deliver what we needed – and they did,” said Randy Marcinko, Founder of MEI Global LLC, which represents JVRP in their outbound licensing. “We are very pleased that the semantic enrichment of this unique data provides extended options for licensing of JVRP Verdicts.”

Moving forward, Access Innovations will automatically index incoming jury verdicts by using their developed thesaurus and its custom-tailored automated-indexer. The new taxonomy is being implemented into JVRP’s new search engine and website, launching soon to help improve search results for all end users.  Access Innovations plans to deliver both the indexed content and the restructured verdicts in the XML schema Access Innovations developed.
